There is something quietly powerful about artwork that asks nothing of the viewer except presence.
In a world increasingly shaped by speed, noise and endless scrolling, artist Karina Mosser creates something different — moments of stillness. Her work invites pause. It encourages reflection. It reminds us that beauty, colour and emotion still have the power to move us in ways words often cannot.
Originally educated in Moscow and now based in the Washington, DC area, Karina has spent decades developing both her artistic voice and her commitment to helping others discover the value of creativity. Since the 1990s, she has worked not only as an exhibiting artist but also as an art educator — sharing the transformative impact of visual expression across generations.

Working primarily in soft pastel and PanPastel, Karina has developed her own distinctive blending technique that gives her pieces a remarkable sense of luminosity. Colours appear to breathe across the surface — rich yet delicate, layered yet effortless. The result is artwork that feels illuminated from within.
Her creative philosophy extends beyond aesthetics.
Karina has long believed that art serves a deeper human purpose — that appreciation of beauty and immersion in visual storytelling can positively shape our wellbeing. In December 2025, reporting highlighted growing research connecting engagement with visual art to human flourishing, suggesting benefits ranging from reduced stress and discomfort to increased empathy, cooperation and emotional connection.
That belief can be felt throughout Karina’s work.

Rather than creating simply to impress, her collections seek to evoke something more lasting: hope, harmony and serenity. There is gentleness within the compositions, but also intention — an understanding that colour and atmosphere can influence how we feel long after we leave the gallery.
Karina holds a degree in Education and Art Studies from Moscow University and continues to exhibit internationally. Her artistic journey began in Moscow, where her work was first shown publicly, and today continues across Washington, DC alongside regular appearances throughout Northern Virginia and Maryland.
She is also a proud member of the Pastel Society of America, reflecting her continued dedication to both craftsmanship and artistic community.
At its heart, Karina Mosser’s work is an invitation.
To slow down.
To observe.
To reconnect with the quiet emotions that often go unnoticed.
And perhaps, in doing so, to leave feeling a little lighter than when we arrived.
